So… You Want to Self-Publish?

The decision to self publish is as terrifying as it is exciting. Your book is finished or nearly finished and you’re ready for the next step…except, what is the next step?

One day online course with Andie James and Britt Belle on August 24th, 2024—Open for registration below

Getting started in self-publishing can be overwhelming. While there is a lot of great advice out there, much of it comes from authors who first published a decade ago and either don’t remember what it’s like to be new, or don’t know what it’s like to start in today’s market. So why not create the class we wish would have been available to us as we started?

Join authors Andie James and Britt Belle as they highlight the successes and failures of their first year of self publishing with real stories and statistics. We all hope we’ll be the next breakout star and find success with our first book, and while that does happen, that’s not the journey for most. This course will give you some real world data and examples from two different authors to help you set realistic expectations for the ever changing market.

In the course you will hear about the pros and cons of self-publishing and decide what path fits your goals (wide or KU?), get a checklist of actionable items to complete before your book goes live, and learn about different types of marketing.

A panel session with other new authors is another exciting part of the class. Listen as they share their own insights and data to help you think about what may be right for your own publishing journey. Additionally, you’ll be able to interact and bond with other writers starting out in publishing .

While this class will be focused on the romance market (where both Andie and Britt write), the information provided will be beneficial to all new self-published authors. This one day, online class is great for authors who are still considering publishing options and want to learn more about self-publishing, have decided to self-publish but don’t know where to start, those who have recently published but are looking for some new insights and tools, and writers looking for community and support with the self-publishing journey.

Live sessions via zoom on August 24 from 1-3 EST and panel 4-5:30 EST with additional networking, Q&A’s, and advice in the So You Want to Self-Publish Discord Group.

Andie has been a voracious reader her entire life. While she had read romance previously, it wasn’t until the pandemic that she truly fell in love with the genre. After a 15 year career in higher education, she took a leap of faith and decided to try her hand at writing, focusing on historical romance as she loves the fantasy inherent to the genre, and the way a historical lens can provide a different perspective to understand contemporary issues. She has published four books since July 2023 and has more in the works!

Andie happily lives in Tacoma, WA with her cat. There is nothing she enjoys more than curling up with a good book on a rainy Pacific Northwest day.

Andie hopes that within a few years she will be able to make writing her full time job, and is excited to share all she has learned with other authors!

Britt Belle is an ex-collegiate volleyball player with an undergraduate degree in history, a former elementary school teacher, and the mother of three daughters. She spends her free time transporting her girls to dance rehearsals, bantering about sports with her husband, and eating entirely too much Mexican food. Britt began reading romance novels in high school, but didn't begin writing until about eight years ago. After multiple starts and stops, three attempts at querying, and a dozen workshops, she decide to self-publish a regency romance in October 2023. Since then, she has published a sports romance novel and has a popstar romance releasing in August.

Britt finds self-publishing to be incredibly rewarding and is invested in growing her community and career. She look forward to sharing my experiences with you!
