Authors—Besotted Books wants to work with you!

Besotted Books is looking to work with new and current authors in the Historical Romance community

We will be accepting submissions from both agented and unagented writers and want to prioritize diversity within the genre.

What kind of support will you get from Besotted Books as an author?

• Besotted Books will cover all development costs of your books, including developmental editing, line and copy editing, proofreading, cover design, and basic marketing

• Because our initial funding will come from subscriptions through our Kickstarter campaign, we cannot offer traditional royalties on the books shared with kickstarter supporters over the first three years of releases. Instead, you will receive $1,000 upon publication of your book, and your novel will immediately be in the hands of at least 5k readers who backed the Kickstarter campaign

• Once the books are up for sale on Amazon and enrolled in Kindle Unlimited, you will receive 50% of all profits from ebook and print sales as well as page reads. We will also be targeting romance bookstores for physical sales of your books

• We will run promotions and marketing for your books and provide occasional workshops to help you better learn the tools to market your books as well.

Editing and Publication Timelines:

• 6 months from release month: Turn in your draft and Andie will return developmental edits within two weeks

• 5 months from release month: Author completes rewrite after receiving developmental edits, cover is commissioned with author input

• 4 months from release month: Revised draft is turned in for line/copy edits, cover is approved

• 3 months from release month: Author revises based on line/copy edit

• 2 months from release month: Final draft goes to proofreader and Besotted Books formatts the novel, marketing begins in earnest with cover and blurb reveal

• 1 month from release month: marketing continues and book goes to ARC team

• Release month: Book given to Kickstarter supporters on the second Friday of the month, book for sale and in KU starting the fourth Friday of the month (author paid $1,000 this month for publication)
