The Historical Romance ARC List seeks to bring readers and authors of the genre we love together!
While there are many great ARC services out there that authors can use to get their books into readers hands, most are not set up to cater to the historical romance community—making these services not as useful for authors writing in the historical romance genre.
But we know there are a lot of you out there who LOVE historical romance, and are also avid ARC readers—delighted to get your hands on books early and help promote those you fall in love with!
We'd like to intentionally bring these two groups together—creating a list of historical romance ARC readers to receive notification of opportunities from authors and ARC management groups!
How Will We Accomplish This?
We’ll be running both an email account hr.arc.list@gmail.com and an Instagram account @hr.arc.list , where we will share information about ARC opportunities from historical romance authors.
Readers will sign up for the list and receive emails with ARC requests (which have been vetted by those maintaining the list), and anyone can follow the Instagram account to see post announcing ARC opportunities!
By signing up for this list, readers are not committing to any specific author, or to read or review any specific book—they are simply agreeing to receive emails from hr.arc.list@gmail.com from authors seeking ARC readers for their upcoming releases. They may accept or decline any ARC offer that comes their way through this list. We are simply hoping to intentionally bring interested parties together!
No Gen AI Commitment
Because of our own myriad concerns regarding Generative AI, we are committed to the Historical Romance ARC List remaining a Gen AI free space. Before forwarding emails to the list or sharing posts on Instagram, we will make sure the book does not have an AI cover and is not using AI images to promote their book. We want books that honor the work of real artists and are written by real people.
In return, we are asking readers not to use Gen AI when creating promotional posts or writing reviews of books received through the list. Authors who share their books with you need to trust that their work will not be shared with AI programs.
For Readers
By signing up for the list, you are agreeing to receive emails from hr.arc.list@gmail.com with information from authors seeking ARC readers for their upcoming releases. You may accept or decline any ARC offer that comes your way through this list.
Any email you are forwarded through the hr.arc.list@gmail.com email will have been reviewed to make sure the book being featured for reviews meets our guidelines (no AI covers and no marketing—ARC requests only), and your email information will not be shared outside of those maintaining the email account for the Historical Romance ARC List. In return, we ask that you agree not to use Generative AI for any promotion or reviews of the books you may receive through the Historical romance ARC List.
If at any time you wish to be removed from the list, simply contact hr.arc.list@gmail.com and we will make sure you are removed from the list.
For Authors
To share ARC information with historical romance readers who have signed up for the list, email hr.arc.list@gmail.com with the information you would like shared with readers.
Please make sure either the email or your sign up form contains the following pertinent book information:
content warnings, spice level, when they can expect to receive the ARC, when the book will be released, ideal timeline for reviews, etc.
This will help the reader make an informed decision on whether or not they wish to receive your ARC
These readers ARE NOT committed to reading and reviewing any specific ARCs by being on the list, they have only agreed to receive emails requesting ARC readers, and may decide to either accept or decline to read and review any book, at any time.
The list may be used to share ARC interest and sign up requests ONLY—we will not share any other type of marketing or promotions. We also will not share ARC requests for books that have AI covers or are using AI images to promote the book.
If you would like us to share your ARC announcement through our Instagram account, please tag @hr.arc.list as collaborators and if it meets our criteria, we’ll accept the collaboration and share the post with our followers.
